Trilogy Rail fairways
Latest from Tour Edge Exotics
By ED TRAVIS
According to the folks at Tour Edge Golf, shots from the
fairway, even from tight lies in the fairway or from the
rough, just got easier with the introduction of the
Exotics Trilogy Rail fairway wood. The Exotics line from
Tour Edge is known for the latest technical innovations
and very high quality but particularly for outstanding
fairways and hybrids.
How outstanding? Players using Exotics fairways and
hybrids have racked up 17 top ten finishes on the PGA
Tour so far this year including significantly, Matt Kuchar
last weekend at The Barclay’s using a Tour Edge Exotics
CB2 4-wood.
The Trilogy Rail has three rails on the sole. It’s true other
fairways and hybrids have sole rails but what is striking
about the Trilogy Rail design is the center rail. First of all
its big and secondly its diamond-shaped and according to
Tour Edge acts as a rudder to square the club face at
impact from lies in closely mown fairway to those in the
deep stuff.
The two outer rails move mass rearward for better stability
which combined with the center rail and a 60-gram
internal weight provide a lot of forgiveness and help
getting the ball air borne.
In a bow to golfers’ quest for increased distance, the
Trilogy Rail club head has a hyper-steel body with a
thinner hi-tech maraging steel face. Face thickness is
varied in an elliptical shape which Tour Edge says gives
better distance performance. The standard shaft is a light
weight Graphite Design Tour AD 60.
Suggested retail is $199, a significant price decrease
($100 plus) from previous Exotics fairway models.
